Drunk flyer thrown off plane for calling cabin crewman 'queer boy' in hurl of abuse

A HOLIDAYMAKER was marched off a passenger jet after asking a shocked male cabin crewman: “Oi queer boy, where’s my seat?”Court

Drunken Thomas Howorth, 28, berated easyJet staff when disorientated as he boarded his flight at Manchester Airport.
As fellow passengers were being guided onto the aircraft, Howorth abused purser William Compton.
When his colleague Jemma Grieves intervened, Howorth pushed her out of the way and said: “I’ll f***ing headbutt you.”
Police later arrested him, marched the labouring business owner off the plane and he admitted assault and using threatening behaviour.
At Manchester Magistrates Court on Friday Howorth, of Rochdale, narrowly avoided jail with a 16-week suspended sentence.
He was also ordered to complete 120 hours unpaid work and told to pay £200 court costs.
Prosecutor Hayley Bennett explained how trouble started when the drunken defendant boarded the easyJet flight to Europe last April.
Angry with passing purser William Compton that he was too sozzled to find his seat, he launched into a foul-mouthed tirade.
Ms Bennett said: “The trouble started when the defendant said ‘oi queer boy, where’s my f***ing seat’. This immediately put the staff on edge.
“His abuse continued and he kept threatening to hurt them by saying things like ‘I’ll f***ing head butt you’.
“Overall he was being very aggressive and threatening and staff were very concerned.
“He was completely intoxicated and unable to be calmed down. At one stage he pushed a member of staff out of his way.
“The police were called and he was arrested and cautioned.
“This was before the flight had taken off so luckily nothing escalated too far, but it still caused distress to the members of staff involved.”
Richard Birtwistle, defending, pleaded for his client to avoid jail as his business would suffer.
Mr Birtwistle said: “He is self employed and owns his own business and earns around £500 per week.
“He also has a young employee who has taken an apprenticeship with him, so again this is another cost to my client.
“While this offence would be relevant of a custodial sentence, I don’t think this will help him in any way.
“Depriving him of his liberty is not going to help him get back on the right track.
“He recognises his position and understands that the custodial threshold was breached. He has showed genuine remorse which was not a tired rehearsal of false sorrow.
“He recognises he will have to make right the wrong he has done. He knows to think twice before acting like this again.”
Passing sentence JP David Marsh said: “We do treat this case as a very very serious matter.
“You were on board a flight, with other people present, you were lucky that this flight hadn’t taken off.
“Lives could have been in serious danger. After careful consideration we have decided that sending you to prison will not benefit you.
“Locking you up will not help you get the help you so desperately need. You need the help to get yourself through this.”

The weird rules the royal family are expected to follow. (But break all the time). In international news this week, a guy held his girlfriend’s hand. ^^ That sort of thing tends to earn a fair bit of attention when you’re in line to succeed the throne as ruler of a Commonwealth of nations. Especially if that thing, well, just isn’t generally done. “Prince Harry Broke Royal Protocol with Meghan Markle”, “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal PDA May Have Been Against the Rules”, “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Broke a MAJOR Royal Rule”, the headlines read. But the truth is, the Royals – especially the younger ones – break protocol all the time. Because, let’s face it, a lot of them (the rules, that is) are really bloody weird. Here are a few they’ve tossed out the window. They mustn't let people touch them And not just girlfriends. The media went nuts in 2009 when Michelle Obama and the Queen stood side-by-side with (then) US First Lady Michelle Obama, the...
